My Experience : Surf Lifeguard

6 Seasons on the Landes Coast:

Ocean Reading & Analysis:

Stationed on the beaches of Capbreton, and particularly at La Piste beach, I developed a sharp expertise in powerful ocean conditions. Spotting nearshore currents forming based on the orientation of sandbanks became instinctive, allowing me to anticipate danger before it occurred.

Emergency Interventions & First Aid:

I managed numerous critical interventions where victims' lives were at stake. My role consisted of rigorously applying rescue protocols while knowing how to instantly adapt them to the specific needs of the victim and the terrain configuration.

Stress Management & Teamwork:

Working in a swimming zone during challenging conditions requires flawless coordination. I learned to find my place within a group, where efficiency relies on clear communication and absolute mutual trust between lifeguards.

A cornerstone for my scientific vision:

These six years of intense practice shaped my sense of responsibility and resilience. This physical and visceral understanding of the ocean is now the foundation of my scientific approach: to me, oceanography is not a theoretical study, but the understanding of an environment whose strength, fragility, and complexity I know firsthand.
